Ultimate Ears (UE) makes a solid speaker, one that we’ve enjoyed in the past and in recent news, the team behind the Bluetooth enabled, smart speakers are bringing some great new functionality to their Blast and MegaBlast lines.
These speaker lines feature 360-degree sound and Amazon Alexa built in, as well as enhanced controls through their UE app. In May, the smart speakers will also be updated to allow for EQ customization for your favorite artists and genres. The Alexa feature is important, as the service is currently working on integrating Spotify control into the service. Spotify will have good company, as Alexa currently works with Pandora, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, and SiriusXM.
The last feature of note is that users will be able to actually connect up to eight MegaBlast and Blast speakers via Wi-Fi to give your music experience much more depth. Granted, will you ever have eight of these speakers? Maybe not, but the option is there for those that might have multiple units throughout their house or workspace.
“We believe that MEGABLAST is the best sounding portable smart speaker available today — with true 360-degree sound, its sleek, waterproof design looks at home with any interior and wherever you take your music, from kitchen to backyard, park to mountain,” said Charlotte Johs, general manager of Ultimate Ears. “We listened to our fans and have added features and functionality that they’ve asked for most — we’re excited to add Alexa voice control for Spotify, in addition to the many other music services and app features.
