Unfortunately, chargers for your electronics are in a sort of limbo. Most products have switched over to USB-C charging to help create a sort of standard, but there are still companies, like Apple, who chose to make their own proprietary chargers to make the world a more difficult place for consumers. So what did Google decide for charging on the Pixel 6?

Google was actually pretty quick to adopt USB-C charging ports for its phones. The original Pixel was delivered with USB-C back in 2016, and all of the company’s phones since then have been fitted with USB-C charging ports.

Everybody’s probably got a USB-C charging cord laying around somewhere, so it would make sense that Google go with the tried and true option with the Pixel 6. But as we already know, big tech companies love to make things more complicated for consumers, so I wouldn’t be completely surprised if the Pixel 6 had its own proprietary charger.

So, does the Pixel 6 use USB-C, or has Google gone with some other option?

Short answer: Yes, the Pixel 6 has a USB-C charger.

Thankfully, Google decided to keep things simple with the Pixel 6. Both the Pixel 6 and the Pro version of the phone will come with a USB-C charger.

And it’s a good thing that so many electronics now use USB-C charging because Google seems to be following suit of other phone manufacturers, and the Pixel 6 won’t come with a charging brick, so you will have to snag one of those. It will come with a USB-C charging cord and a USB-C to USB-A adapter so you can use charging bricks that have the older USB port.
