Excited for the release of Crackdown 3 later this month? Want to familiarize yourself with the world and gameplay of the sandbox shoot-em-up? Now’s your chance to get the original Crackdown for free on both Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Released back in 2007, Crackdown was an over-the-top, arcade shooter where you play as an Agent on a mission to kill different gang Kingpins. These Kingpins are tough, but being a sandbox game, you can choose the fight them at almost any time during your playthrough, but obviously, you’ll probably want to buff up your skills before taking them on.
You can spend your time leveling up, improving your skills, and defeating other “generals” throughout the world. These generals are all in charge of something and defeating them not only makes you stronger but makes enemy units weaker, as well. For example, there’s a gang recruitment general that when defeated lowers the number of mobs you have to encounter.
Being that the game released 12 years ago, it is sure to have some faults, but hey, free is free so if you’re looking for something to tide you over until Crackdown 3‘s February 15 release, give it a try.
