For some reason, HP is adding wood to its Envy range of Ultrabooks
Three different wood options are available.

It seems that HP wants to get back to nature with its latest line of Envy laptops, with new wood inlays on the palm rest area. Unfortunately, that’s the only part of the laptops that comes with the wooden touch, with the outside still being metal, like the existing range.
The Envy 13, Envy x360 13, Envy x360 15 and the Envy 17 will all have options for wood, with three color options: “Nightfall Black with Natural Walnut,” “Ceramic White with White Birch,” and “Natural Silver with Pale Birch.”
As this is real wood and not a synthetic covering, the grain patterns will change between devices, meaning your Envy will be unique to you. Underneath that veneer of respectability are new options for the latest Intel Core processors and 2nd-gen AMD Ryzen CPUs with Vega graphics.
HP’s new Envy range should be dropping from the trees this autumn. Pricing details will be released closer to that time.
With HP cladding an ultrabook in leather at the end of 2018 and wood in 2019, it’s anyone’s guess what their next range of laptops will be covered in. My wish is for an H.R. Giger edition covered in alien bone, but maybe there’s a more practical material to use.
If you want to cover the outside of your laptop in wood as well, check out Toastmade, who make some pretty snazzy skins out of different woods.
