Samsung is hosting its upcoming Unpacked event in January 2025. While the Galaxy S25 series and possibly new AR glasses are making headlines, a new report suggests that the Galaxy Ring’s successor could also appear at the event.
Building on the success of the original Galaxy Ring, which drew significant attention to the smart ring market and spurred competition from brands like Oura and RingConn, Samsung seems poised to double down with the next iteration.
With this, the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 could capture the smart ring market, offering improvements over its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 could appear at the upcoming Unpacked event
According to a report by DigiTimes, the Galaxy Ring 2 will likely make its first appearance at the upcoming Unpacked event.
The report suggests that it will come in the original nine sizes (5 to 13) and be joined by two new ones, sizes 14 and 15.
Moreover, it will bring upgrades like better tracking accuracy, more sophisticated AI for health monitoring, and extended usage without frequent charging.
While Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is anticipated to be the show’s star, the Galaxy Ring 2 could garner significant attention, alongside possible new AR glasses.
Based on Samsung’s typical approach, the Galaxy Ring 2 will likely follow a similar release structure as its predecessor.
The first Galaxy Ring was teased at January 2024’s Unpacked event and released six months later, in July 2024. The Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to follow this pattern, suggesting a mid-2025 launch.
The Galaxy Ring series has already disrupted the wearable market by spotlighting smart rings as a viable and competitive product category.
With a second iteration, Samsung could refine its offering and solidify its place in this niche.
However, we will have to wait until the Unpacked event to learn more about what the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 will offer.
