Your Instagram Story probably sucks, but maybe this new deal with Shazam will help it to suck less.
With Instagram working on various integrations, including Eventbrite and SoundCloud, this move gives Instagram’s Story feature yet another use. At present, the new feature is only available for iOS users, but Android functionality is in the works.
Here’s how it works
To use the new feature make sure both Shazam and Instagram are updated to their latest versions. Then, open up Shazam and scan for a song. Once the song is registered, click on the Share Arrow in the top right corner of the app.
From there, simply find Instagram Stories in your list of options and the app will open up Instagram to finish the process. When in Instagram, you can add effects, stickers, and text as normal.
For people that view your story, there will be a link for “More on Shazam” that pops up below your name that users can click on to link back to the Shazam page for the song.
More info regarding Instagram and Shazam
Instagram has been steadily adding features and integrations to its platform to improve engagement with its users. Recently, Instagram and Eventbrite announced a collaborative effort. Over the summer, Spotify started offering features within Instagram, and SoundCloud now offers functionality, as well.
Shazam, which has been around in some form since the early 2000s, has been downloaded over 1 billion times and gives users a quick and easy way to identify a huge library of songs.
