We’ve all played Resident Evil. Maybe not every iteration, but at some time, somewhere, we’ve dove into the world of zombies and monsters, brought to us in a way only Capcom could deliver. And now, we have a new trailer highlighting some of the story elements of the Resident Evil 2 remake.
Released way back in 1998, RE2 has you playing as Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as you try to escape the infamous Raccoon City with Sherry Birkin, daughter of Dr. William Birkin, who was basically just being a terrible father and human. While many consider it to be one of the better Resident Evil games in existence, it did have some issues with both cameras and controls, but that didn’t stop the game from being a fun, atmospheric zombie shooter puzzler.
Updated monsters in Resident Evil 2
We also get a better look at some of the monsters in this story trailer. Dr. Birkin for example, one of the more recognizable antagonists in the series since the game first released was always scary in the original, but also a bit silly. This trailer shows the new-and-improved version of Birkin, and the developers have managed to both keep some of that original “charm,” while still bringing the game into 2018.
While some re-releases and remakes feel lazy, it looks like Resident Evil 2 will be worth the purchase cost, especially if they can get the in-game camera under control.
Resident Evil 2 releases on January 25, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
