5 things every man cave has to have

man cave

Just a heads up, if you buy something through our links, we may get a small share of the sale. It’s one of the ways we keep the lights on here. Click here for more.

The need for having our personal getaway space doesn’t dwindle in time – we may no longer need our teenage lairs, but we definitely crave for a man cave.

Our childhood rooms hold some of our fondest memories – from lighthearted mischief, to showcasing our favorite stuff. As boys grow older, however, they turn into mature men and their old rooms stay forgotten, even become museums for their parents to reminisce of the days when their boys were just innocent children. The need for having our personal getaway space doesn’t dwindle in time – we may no longer need our teenage lairs, but we definitely crave for a man cave. Here are 5 unavoidable things to showcase within your own personal space.

A Fridge

Yes, I know you own a kitchen, but I don’t care – every man needs a cold beer at hand’s reach. Breaking the whole ‘man cave’ vibe by going to the kitchen to get a fresh one is simply out of the question! Now, of course you don’t need a full-on kitchen fridge, but a smaller version (like this one) that can fit almost anywhere is simply a must. Decorate it the way you see fit – either stick a bunch of magnets onto it, or equip it with humorous bumper stickers; in fact, if you are a bit on the artistic side, paint it the way you want and make it a creative DIY project!

Table-Top Sports

Who doesn’t like ping pong? Who doesn’t like foosball? You are bound to be a fan of either of the two. Now, while it would be awesome to have both, chances are that there simply won’t be enough room. If you can’t decide, toss a coin – you can rest assured you won’t regret it in any case!

But let’s dream even bigger; what about a pool table? Yes, installing it tends to be extremely difficult, but wouldn’t it be cool to have one!?

A Bar

What manlier activity is there than sitting at a bar with friends? Installing it is easier than you might think – after all, it’s not like it’s a tech wonder. If you are into bartending, invite a couple of friends over and serve some beverages –beers, whiskey or even cocktails – whatever they’re into. Even when you’re up for a drink alone after work, there is no better feeling than the one you get when sitting at a bar in a classic Humphrey Bogart style!

A TV

Now, of course – a TV inside your man cave goes without saying! But settling for a 17” one won’t really bring you any pleasure. Here, you can go wild, as long as you can afford it. Yeah, sure, a LED or an LCD TV is definitely a good direction of thinking, but you should definitely check out the OLED TV technology. Short for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, this technology offers self-illuminated pixels, which means that there is no reason for a backlight that a typical LED TV needs. All science talk aside, this technology means that its pixels can really be turned off, providing true black, as opposed to the alternatives that merely simulate the black effect by dimming the brightness. In any case, a high quality television set is a must!

Gaming

If you are into gaming consoles, Black Friday is just around the corner, so take advantage of this opportunity to get a brand new Sony Play Station 4 Pro, which fully supports the 4k resolution! However, if you are a part of the PC master race, plan on spending at least a ballpark of $1000 to get your taste satisfied.

These are some essentials your man cave won’t really be one without. Feel free to add your personal touch to everything, but do take into consideration enjoying a cold beer with your friends at a bar, gaming sessions, or watching sports – all of this is the very point of any male lair.
