Today, Sony officially revealed its worst-kept secret: the PlayStation 5 Pro. Yeah, you heard it right: the PS5 Pro has been revealed, and it costs $700.

The new PS5, or the mid-gen refresh, doesn’t come with a disc drive and will launch in November.

During the presentation, PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny confirmed that the GPU is significantly larger, ray tracing is improved, and custom hardware for machine learning (PSSR) is available, which can improve game resolution.

In addition, Sony showcased top games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7, and Hogwarts Legacy running on PlayStation 5 Pro with better visuals.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Sony’s latest PlayStation 5 Pro gets the following upgrades and features.

An upgraded GPU: Sony upgraded the PlayStation 5 Pro’s GPU, which sports 67% more computer units than the present PS5 and has 28% faster memory.

Overall, the new PS5 Pro delivers 45% faster game rendering, making the gaming experience far smoother.

Better Ray Tracing: Sony has added more powerful ray tracing to the PS5 Pro, which delivers more dynamic light reflection and refraction. The rays are cast at double or sometimes triple the times of the speed of the current PS5.

Upscaling with AI: Sony also introduced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-based upscaling system that employs machine learning to deliver ultra-sharp image clarity.

While Sony has bumped the price, the new PS5 Pro comes with a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a pre-installed copy of Astro’s Playroom.

However, a disk drive will need to be bought separately at $79.99 and a vertical stand will be sold separately as well at $29.99.
