Apple could be launching a foldable iPhone sooner than we thought — possibly as early as 2026.
There are a couple of theories out there. First, SamMobile suggests a 2026 release date. Apple Insider specifies that Apple could release it as soon as possible in 2024, contingent upon the company successfully overcoming the tech involved with folding phones.
Launch date aside, what are these phones going to look like? Are they big, small, or massively huge? It’s still a mystery.
Apple could choose a design similar to Samsung’s book-style Galaxy Z Fold or their flip-style Galaxy Z Flip. They have patents for both, so it’s anybody’s guess.
Is Apple’s folding phone really just a pipe dream?
Now, folks might be wondering if these foldable iPhones will follow the same path as the recently abandoned Apple car project. Just because Apple has patents and plans for foldable iPhones doesn’t mean they will definitely launch them.
Ming-Chi Kuo and other reliable sources suggest that the rumors could indeed form the basis of the next iPhone model. But again, without any concrete evidence, no one really what to expect.
If Apple launches the foldable iPhone in 2026, it will be entering a market dominated by Samsung.
Samsung’s foldable phones will already be in their eighth iteration, which means Apple will need to bring something special to the table to compete.
It’s an ongoing saga of folded possibilities with Apple — all eyes are on what unfolds next.
