Apple smart home camera and updated AirPods with health features to arrive by 2026
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Chinese tech company GoerTek will exclusively handle assembly of the smart home camera, with mass production scheduled to begin in 2026.
The new smart home camera is expected to integrate seamlessly with Apple’s ecosystem.
It will use wireless connectivity to work effortlessly with Apple’s existing hardware and deep integration with Siri and Apple Intelligence, to give it an edge over options currently available in the market.
Kuo noted that the camera will likely be part of Apple’s HomeKit platform, which will allow users to access feeds via Apple TV, iPhone, Apple Watch, and other Apple devices, possibly even using Siri for voice control and commands.
The worldwide smart home camera industry is still expanding, with an estimated 30-40 million devices shipped annually. Sensing an opportunity, Apple wants to surpass 10 million units shipped annually in the long run.
Additionally, Apple’s smart home division is reportedly developing a smart display similar to Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub, which could further expand its offerings in the home automation market.
Regarding the AirPods, Kuo simply stated that the future models will offer “more health management features” similar to those found in the Apple Watch.
While Apple has yet to confirm these developments, Kuo has an excellent track record of accurate predictions for future Apple devices, which lends credibility to the likelihood of these forthcoming products.
