Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the new name for the latest title in the long-running series, and it’s coming out on November 15.
The game is set in feudal Japan and was previously known as Codename RED. It’s been in development since 2022, and Ubisoft Montreal is heading the project.
That’s the same studio that kicked the series off all those years ago, and a huge name is leading development as creative director, Clint Hocking. His game list includes Far Cry 2 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory so the AC name is in good hands.
The first trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is epic
The trailer sets a great vibe for 16th-century Japan, introducing two main characters: a samurai, Yasuke, and an assassin, Naoe. Each has a different playstyle, and will make your playthrough feel different.
Expect a more combat-orientated game if you opt for Yasuke, and stealth will be paramount with Naoe.
Either way, we can’t wait to get our hands on this game. The blend of action, stealth, and history is one of the best mixes in gaming, and Japan is a great setting to explore.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released globally on November 15for $70 for the base game and $110 for the Gold Edition, which adds a season pass, bonus quest, and early access on November 12.
It will be available for Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Apple silicon-powered Macs. Yes, you read that correctly, it’s coming to Mac at launch.
Usually we’d express caution about preordering games, but the only issue with some of the Assassin’s Creed series has been that they take too long to complete. If you’re a fan already, there’s no reason to wait.
The next Assassin's Creed game, Shadows, takes you to Japan for the next installment of its history-spanning, mind-bending, nudging-the-course-of-civilization stealth action game.
