ASUS is preparing to release its first phone in 2025, the ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra, on February 6. In anticipation of the launch, the company has shared a brief teaser of the device on its X/Twitter page.
The fifteen-second clip briefly demonstrates the smartphone. The Zenfone 12 Ultra is prominently displayed, highlighting its remarkably slender bezels and centrally positioned punch-hole front camera.
The front appearance closely resembles the newly launched ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro, which aligns with our speculation that the Zenfone 12 Ultra is essentially a rebranded version of the ROG Phone 9 Pro.
Most interestingly, the teaser showed the device would pack an age-old feature: a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Meanwhile, like all the other brands, ASUS is also betting heavily on AI.
The company even says the phone offers the full AI experience, so expect a lot of AI features to be available on the upcoming Zenfone 12 Ultra.
ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra expected specs
Even though ASUS has revealed the teaser and the upcoming launch date for the Zenfone 12 Ultra, which is about a week from today, we still don’t know much about the phone.
However, we also know ASUS’s usual pattern for the past few years.
This makes us believe the upcoming device will be a rebranded version of the ASUS ROG Phone 9 without all the gaming accessories and flashy design cues.
Hence, we expect the service to rock the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a large 5,800mAh battery, up to 512GB of internal storage, and 16GB of RAM.
Additionally, we expect an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, along with Android 15 pre-installed and two years of Android updates, similar to the support provided for the ROG Phone 9.
However, we sincerely hope that ASUS improves its software update policy, which currently does not align with the standards set by leading brands such as Google or Samsung.
