Here’s how to watch the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 battle royale trailer
This might be enough to make me pick up the game this October.

We’ve all been wondering how mainstream publishers like Treyarch and DICE are going to manage to pull off the battle royale genre made popular by games like PUBG and Fortnite, and now we have a better idea of how Treyarch plans to frame their battle royale mode, Blackout, featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this October.
You can check out the trailer above, but let me break some things down real quick. One, a slingshot that places trip mines. Dope. Two, zombies. Also dope. Three, everyone’s favorite map, freakin’ Nuketown.
In the trailer, we also get a look at the vehicles that will be present in the title, and they all look to be very well done. And of course, it’s a Call of Duty game, so it’s run-and-gun theme is present throughout the trailer. Also making an appearance – the monkey bombs made popular by past iterations Zombie modes. We also get a look at some traps that remind me of R6: Siege, in that players can be seen putting down barbed wire and barriers, which adds yet another layer to the game.
It will be interesting to see how pacing works in this title. Battle royale games typically need to balance a slow playstyle that allows for the gathering of items and strategy, while still keeping things paced well enough that people don’t get bored during a round. Considering the amount of action that is included in the trailer, I’m curious to see how everything plays when not thrown in the middle multiperson gunfights.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available October 12 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
