Like every month, Google is rolling out this month’s Pixel Feature Drop update for supported Pixel devices, including Pixel phones, tablets, and watches. 

The patch focuses more on a plethora of new features than a bunch of boring bug fixes. Let’s check out everything new with the December 2024 Google Pixel Feature Drop release. 

December 2024 Pixel Drop for Pixel phones and tablet

AI Replies: Using the Gemini Nano AI model, the Pixel 9 series now offers smarter, AI-generated reply suggestions during Call Screen to minimize manual call handling.

Automatic Call Screening View: Available on Pixel 4 and newer models, this view allows users to view real-time conversations between the caller and the AI agent during automatic screening.

Automatic Categorization: Screenshots are now automatically organized for easier access on the Pixel 9 series.

Google Wallet Integration: Pixel users can now add screenshots of credit cards and tickets directly to Google Wallet.

Gboard Suggestions: Gboard now offers context-based text suggestions from screenshots when searching in supported apps, available for the Pixel 9 series.

Made You Look Animations: Originally on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, playful animations to capture children’s attention for photos are now available on the original Pixel Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold also adds Disney’s Inside Out character Joy to these animations.

Photo Picker in Snapchat: The Android Photo Picker, offering enhanced privacy, is now supported in Snapchat for the Pixel 6 series and newer.

Simple View: An accessibility mode on Pixel 6+ that increases font size, touch sensitivity, and overall ease of navigation.

Identity Check: This theft-protection feature requires biometric authentication to change sensitive settings in untrusted locations. It is now available for all Tensor-powered Pixels.

Clear Voice in Recorder App: Pixel 9 series devices gain a noise-cancellation toggle for improved audio quality in recordings.

December 2024 Pixel Drop for Pixel Watches

Live Camera Views on Pixel Watch 2: The Pixel Watch 2 now supports live feeds from Nest Cams and Doorbells, previously exclusive to the Pixel Watch 3.

Users can also communicate with visitors at their door directly from their watch.

Expanded Availability of Loss of Pulse Feature: The Loss of Pulse feature on the Pixel Watch 3 is now available in Germany and Portugal, extending its regional support.

Cardio Load and Target Load Expansion: The fitness features, initially launched on the Pixel Watch 3, are now available on a wide range of devices.

The supported devices include Pixel Watch 1 and 2, Fitbit Sense 1 and 2, Versa 2 to 4, Charge 5 and 6, Inspire 2 and 3, and Luxe.

Features can be accessed via the Fitbit Today app for Pixel Watches and the Fitbit mobile app for Fitbit devices.
