With Fortnite’s new update, Switch owners get motion controls
Everyone is hyped for Fortnite Season 5, and now Nintendo Switch owners have an additional reason to be excited.
As part of the Season 5 update, Switch owners will now get motion controls like those featured in Splatoon 2. While I personally can’t imagine trying to use the gyroscopic motion controls to play something like Fortnite, it is a welcome feature that utilizes some of the features of the Nintendo Switch.
From the patch notes,
Gyro/motion controls have been added to the Nintendo Switch. Adjust these options in the Settings menu.
Gamers around the world are parachuting into Fortnite’s battle island today, with new skins, new features, a new(ish) map, and new options for traveling around the maps. Players can now scoop up an All Terrain Kart (ATK) with up to three of their friends and cruise the map with speed boosts accomplished by coordinated leaning from those in the glorified golf cart.
New map locations include Paradise Palms, which replaces Moisty Mire with a new desert location. Anarchy Acres is also gone, with the golf course themed Lazy Links taking its place.
The rifts that started popping up in Season 4 are still present, now allowing players a quick method of escape. Upon running into one of these rifts, players will be transported to the area above the rift, allowing for quick escapes and tricky plays.
