It’s no secret; to say the least, we know quite a bit about the upcoming Google Pixel 3.

With Google’s August 13 event just around the corner, the Pixel 9 series is set to make its debut. Given the leaks we’ve seen over the past month, it’s safe to say the Pixel Watch 3 will also be making an appearance.

Most recently, Android Headlines gave us a sneak peek at what seems to be the promotional video for the Google Pixel Watch 3. The same outlet has now shared more technical details about the upcoming Pixel Watches.

Pixel Watch 3 series: A smoother display

According to Android Headlines, the Pixel Watch 3 will run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 5100 chipset (SW5100) and Cortex M33 co-processor as the Pixel Watch 2.

So, if you were doing a happy dance about a performance upgrade, it’s time to put your dancing shoes away. It’s not happening. Google seems to be sticking with the same 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

We see no changes in performance; however, the Pixel Watch 3’s display tells a different story

The Pixel Watch 2 had a 30Hz screen, but Google is upping the ante with a 60Hz screen for the Pixel Watch 3, promising a smoother experience.

The report also suggests that the refresh rate will vary from 1Hz in the Always-on-display mode to 60Hz during active use.

This design is likely aimed at striking a balance between performance and power consumption.

However, it’s worth noting that the Google Pixel Watch 3 will use the same chip as the previous generation. A brighter, smoother display could potentially impact its battery life.

Based on previous leaks, the standard Pixel Watch 3 will have a 307mAh battery, which is barely an upgrade over the Watch 2’s 306mAh battery.

The Pixel Watch 3 XL may feature a larger 425mAh battery, but it also has a larger display, which might negate the battery upgrade.

Previously leaked promotional materials suggest that Google will again promise 24 hours of battery life. However, as fans of the Pixel Watch series, we’re hoping for some real upgrades in the battery life department.

What we (may) know about the Pixel Watch 3

Based on the latest rumors and leaks regarding the Google Pixel Watch 3, here’s what we know about the upcoming Pixel Watch 3

These specs suggest that the Pixel Watch 3 will offer significant display improvements, such as high brightness and a decent refresh rate, while maintaining similar internal hardware to its predecessor.

Again, none of this is confirmed as of yet. We’ll jus have to wait until August 13 to see what Google has in store.

How do you feel about the lack of performance upgrades? Will the improved refresh rate and brightness make up for the unchanged internals? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
