Grand Theft Auto 5 released in September of 2013 and the team behind the game, Rockstar, has continued to push content out for the game. Not only that, but it just keeps selling. Originally released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it saw releases on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014, and then a PC release in 2015.

Since its release, it has steadily stayed in the top 20 best selling games month after month, only missing it in October of 2014 where it was the 21st most sold game. How has it managed this? There are a couple main reasons – it is extremely recognizable, everybody knows what GTA is. It’s also available for basically everything at this point. The real reason? Rockstar continues to pump out content and the game, both offline and online, is just plain fun.

Updates, like the most recent “After Hours” campaign, continues to give players reasons to come back and live their best digital mob boss life. Rockstar and Take-Two are still at it though, not happy with their insane success, recently telling Business Insider, “There’s plenty more content to come.” This will probably continue in its current form, more stories, more objectives, weapons, cars, and hideouts with a focus on the extremely popular online portion of GTA5.

Personally, I am ready for a new GTA experience in a new digital world, but obviously, I’m in the minority here, as Grand Theft Auto 5 has now sold over 100 million units since its release.
