Sure, there’s a ton of tips and tricks that help you extend your iPhone’s battery life. You could put the phone in Low Power Mode, adjust the brightness of your screen, or even zap the apps that are draining your battery. Seriously, there’s a lot of tips out there.
But surprisingly, one of the easiest ways to conserve battery power on your iPhone is by putting it face down.
Here’s the thing, when your iPhone is face down, any incoming notifications won’t bother to turn the screen on. Meaning, if you keep your phone face down for hours at a time, you’ll actually boost the phone’s battery life. And sure, if you want to check out the notifications coming in at real-time, you could always leave the phone face-up. Whatever floats your boat.
It’s no secret, smartphone screens are one of the biggest battery drainers out there, so don’t be surprised to see your battery last longer throughout the day with this simple trick.
Just as a heads up, motion sensing is required to be turned on to utilize this. Head on over to Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness and make sure Fitness Tracking is enabled. If by chance it is turned off, your iPhone will turn the screen on no matter if it’s face-down or not. Also, this is only available for the iPhone 5S and above.
