Every year, Apple pumps new life into its mobile, desktop, and mixed-reality platforms at the Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC, and this year isn’t going to be any different as interesting new details, while pretty limited, have surfaced about the upcoming iOS 19 and visionOS 3.

In his Sunday newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman briefly mentioned iOS 19, further asserting that on the next major iOS update, Apple will focus on expanding the existing Apple Intelligence features to more of its applications rather than developing new ones.

He also said that Apple plans to showcase visionOS 3 at this year’s WWDC, which will be an ambitious feature-packed update.

According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the upcoming iOS 19 update will focus solely on expanding the existing Apple Intelligence features.

So, brace yourself. If you were expecting more state-of-the-art Apple Intelligence features with the new iteration of iOS, you would have to wait.

While disappointed, the report also makes sense, given the fact that Apple is already pretty late delivering its promised Siri features on iOS 18.

The company has reportedly postponed its plans for a more conversational Siri from iOS 19 to iOS 20.

Gurman further states that there won’t be any new AI features besides Siri. Instead, existing Apple Intelligence features spread across the ecosystem.

The bad news is that Apple is unlikely to unveil groundbreaking new AI features at this coming WWDC. Instead, it will likely lay out plans for bringing current capabilities to more apps.

However, it’s unclear what this means and is also difficult to guess, given its limited non-Siri features.

Gurman also states that the second-generation Vision Pro, as well as a cheaper version of the headset, are already in the pipeline.

However, none of these headsets are coming in 2025.

While the absence of new Vision hardware is disappointing, Apple’s software plan isn’t so lackluster.

Last month, Apple rolled out the visionOS 2.4 beta, finally bringing Apple Intelligence features to Apple’s $3,500 headset, along with a much-awaited Vision Pro app for iPhones.

The Vision Pro app for iPhones introduces Spatial Gallery, which will get a public release in April.

While these are exciting features, Gurman reports the visionOS 3 will also be a pretty impressive update. However, Gurman is light on the details.

In the absence of new hardware, Apple’s focus seems to be on making VisionOS as robust and feature-packed as possible, which will likely pay off in the long run.

Anyhow, it sounds like iOS 19 won’t be a significant leap forward for Apple. Instead, it will play catch-up with AI features for a year.

Meanwhile, the expected iOS 19 features include a redesigned camera app and a more conversational version of Siri, which was delayed recently.

Additionally, the new Siri features, supposedly slated for iOS 18.4, have been pushed back a year, which could possibly mean iOS 19.

In his newsletter, Gurman also shared grim details about Apple’s rumored smart home hub, which some even refer to as HomePad.

The product was scheduled for March. However, the company has delayed to figure out the best way to integrate the promised Siri capabilities.
