The iPhone 15 series is expected to be launched during its usual fall window, likely in September.

However, a recent report suggested Apple is hitting multiple speed bumps in its production line for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max while trying to slim down the bezels.

However, it’s not the only big news we’ve heard about the iPhone 15 series. Apple is reportedly expected to replace the physical mute switch with a programmable Action Button

We have heard of this new button before but were unsure of its capabilities, as none of the leaks had revealed any further information.

That said, it looks like Apple has now accidentally leaked the functionality of the Action Button for iPhone 15 Pro.

Yesterday, Apple released the iOS 17 beta for developers, and MacRumors is reporting that the code snippets found in the software have revealed the function of the new Action Button.

The new Action Button will reportedly be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it could have nine different functions:

  • Accessibility: The option presumably allows quick access to the accessibility features like Assistive Touch.
  • Silent Mode: Functions, as the name suggests, like a mute switch.
  • Camera: Possibly quick access to the camera app.
  • Flashlight: Quick access to your iPhone’s flashlight.
  • Shortcuts: Possibly lets users access any shortcut they have created using the Shortcuts app.
  • Focus: Turn the Focus mode on or off.
  • Magnifier: Open the magnifier feature.
  • Voice Memos: Quick start recording voice memos.
  • Translate: Allows users to launch the Translate app.

In other words, the Action Button appears to be a multipurpose key that can be used with all the features revealed in the iOS 17 beta.

Apple could still add additional features to this button; however, you’ll have to wait till September to know more.
