There will be no more software updates for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and it is no longer included in Samsung’s updated list of compatible devices for security upgrades.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was eligible for three major Android OS updates, the last of which was delivered in late 2022 as Android 13. The final One UI update was released in September of last year as OneUI 5.1.1, and since then, it has only received security patches.

No more software updates for the Galaxy Z Fold 2

Samsung ended software support for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, as it is not on the list of Samsung devices that will receive upgrades (via SamMobile).

The company promised four years of security patches and three years of software upgrades for the Fold 2, and now that support has come to an end.

The Fold 2 may receive one more security update in some areas, but Samsung will discontinue support for the second Fold model before the end of the year. If you value having the newest software available, it’s time to update your Galaxy Z Fold 2 to the latest software.

The Galaxy Fold 2 was a foldable device capable of delivering remarkable specifications for a device launched in 2020. However, if you have a Fold 2 and want to upgrade to a new phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a great choice, especially if you want upgrades for a long time.

Like flagship Galaxy phones released in 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will receive security upgrades and Android for seven years.

Of course, if you don’t think the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is worth upgrading, you could hold onto your Fold 2 a little bit longer. However, you will miss out on all the new technology and features that the latest Samsung foldable offers.
