Rumors and leaks about Samsung’s next-generation foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, are flooding tech feeds, and anticipation is high.
With the foldable market crowded more than ever, nearly every top-tier company boasts a foldable smartphone that outperforms Samsung’s previous generation of foldable flagships in terms of hardware and performance.
As a result, all eyes are on the South Korean tech giant for a significant leap forward. We’ve already heard that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is set for a major redesign, featuring a substantial cover display.
Meanwhile, initial leaked renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 showed few changes, but rumors hint at a revamped hinge mechanism that allows the device to fold flat.
Initially, we took these rumors with a grain of salt. However, recent leaked renders seem to confirm this feature, and we’re now fairly confident that the Z Fold 5 will indeed fold flat.
First Look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5
Thanks to MySmartPrice, we now have a leaked press render of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which confirms the flagship foldable smartphone’s ability to fold flat.
While this might not be the groundbreaking upgrade some expected from Samsung, it’s undoubtedly a practical and necessary enhancement.
Thanks to the new folding mechanism, the Z Fold 5 will not only be easier to handle, but it will also be less prone to dust and dirt infiltrating the inner display.

The press render gives us a good glimpse at the inner display, which appears to have thinner bezels than the previous generation. However, nothing is set in stone here, this is purely specualation at this point.
We’ve often seen official press renders exaggerate bezel size – a common marketing tactic. So, it’s best to withhold judgment until the official launch, scheduled for the end of July in Seoul.
Returning to the leaked render, it also reveals the official S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This isn’t surprising, given that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 also included an S Pen.
What is surprising, though, is Samsung’s continued omission of a dedicated slot for the S Pen. The render clearly displays the top and bottom of the folding smartphone, and there’s no sign of such a slot. It’s a disappointing update, to say the least.
