Google and Samsung are taking longer than last year to release the latest Android updates for their smartphones. The Android 15 update has yet to arrive on Google Pixel devices and Samsung Galaxy phones.

One UI 7, which will bring Android 15 to the Galaxy series, still has no official release date, and Samsung says it won’t be releasing the update anytime soon. At its annual developer conference, Samsung revealed that One UI 7 will not be officially released until next year with the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 is coming next year

During the annual Samsung Developer Conference (SDC), Samsung revealed that developers will get access to the One UI 7 beta based on Android 15 by the end of the year. However, that still doesn’t make it clear when the beta will be accessible to the general public. Word on the internet is that the beta could be released in September.

Regarding the complete release, Samsung stated at the event that it won’t be available until the Galaxy S25 launches in the first half of 2025. In comparison, One UI 6 with Android 14 began rolling out in the US as early as November 2023.

Earlier this month, a moderator on Samsung’s Korean community site gave the reason behind the delay of the One UI 7 with Android 15 release. The poster claims that the delay is due to many unresolved issues with the new features.

During SDC, Samsung gave a preview of One UI 7 at SDC24, showcasing its new user experience that the company says focuses on emotional, impactful, and simple design and new ways to easily incorporate Galaxy AI features into everyday tasks.

According to rumors, Android 15-based One UI 7 will bring some improvements to notification panels, quick settings, and change some user interface elements, making it one of the largest updates ever for Samsung devices.

Glad I made the switch to OnePlus after being a Samsung consumer for years. Oneplus just literally makes a phone with everything baked in that you would want, they literally make their own version of stuff that would normally require you to install a third-party app. A good example is Nova Launcher. After tinkering with my OnePlus 12 I realize that nearly all aspects, or at least the ones necessary to me, is baked right into OxygenOS. I immediately uninstalled my paid version of Nova Launcher.
