A very ugly patent has been going around this week that many people have assumed to be the PlayStation 5 developer kit. We didn’t even cover the initial news because it just seemed so farfetched – I mean look at this thing, it is hideous.
This morning, however, we woke up to some more news that seems to add some legitimacy to the original report. According to Matthew Stott, a senior artist at Codemasters,
“its a dev kit we have some in the office Sony patent shows PlayStation 5 devkit – or maybe even the console itself https://t.co/0cYk6CkJ36 via @MetroUK”
This tweet quote was taken from the previously linked article, as Stott has a private Twitter account.
Is it true, who knows, honestly, but dat PlayStation 5 developer kit ugly as all hell
Considering there is a patent with the images and now people from respected developers speaking up, it’s very possible it is real. Oftentimes, developer kits look nothing like the final product – but this thing has fins and shit. The PlayStation 4 dev kit looked like an ugly box, this looks like a very intricate ugly box.
Are the vents and fans necessary to keep all the reported internals cool? Does it add horsepower? Was it pulled from Area 51?
What do you think? Is this ugly box a dev kit for the PlayStation 5? Let us know down below in the comments or carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.
