Sony Xperia 5 V showcased in a new leaked video

Earlier this year, Sony launched the highly anticipated Xperia 1 V, a smartphone designed for enthusiasts. It received positive reviews overall.

Now, keeping up with its release cycle, we expect the Japanese company to release an Xperia 5 model in the second half of the year.

And it looks like it will happen soon, as the company is preparing to start the marketing campaign for this new model. This leak arrives alongside another major leak featuring Sony’s Project Q.

Leaked video showcasing the upcoming Sony Xperia 5 V

Redditor JB2Unique posted an unreleased video ad for the Sony Xperia 5 V. The footage shows Sony taking a different approach this time around. 

The leaked video shows Experia 5 V with a dual-camera module on its back. We assume it will combine a primary shooter and an ultra-wide shooter.

This will be the first Xperia phone without Sony’s signature triple camera setup. 

The absence of the triple-camera setup indicates that this Xperia could be cheaper than its predecessors.

We also recognized the ZEISS T* symbol on the camera housing from the video, indicating the company’s anti-glare coating will be present on this model, along with everything else that comes with the ZEISS collaboration.

The video also showcases the front of the smartphone, revealing a few details, like thicker bezels on the top and the bottom of the smartphone. There’s a selfie camera under the top bezel with a punch-hole cutout. 

Other details we could spot include a 3.5mm port and a metallic frame. The Xperia 5 V will likely be available in three colorways: Black, White, and Blue/Gray.

In terms of a release date, nothing is concrete yet. Sony usually unveils the Xperia 5 models in September or October each year. However, this early video leak may hint that the Xperia 5 V is coming earlier than expected this year.
