The updated, longer-lasting Nintendo Switch is now rolling out in stores
Ugh, well I guess I’m making a trip to GameStop.
Just a heads up, if you buy something through our links, we may get a small share of the sale. It’s one of the ways we keep the lights on here. Click here for more.
If you’ve been on the fence about snagging a Nintendo Switch, now is the time. The updated Nintendo Switch with better battery life is being seen out in the wild.
The new Nintendo Switch looks exactly like the original one, but thanks to some optimizations, will see battery life of around 9 hours.
More about the updated Nintendo Switch
There’s really not much more to say about this new version of Nintendo‘s latest console. The only difference is that Nintendo has improved efficiencies with the software, and that has improved the battery life for the console when in portable mode.
The new version is being seen in major cities at retailers like GameStop. If you’re interested in upgrading, make sure you look for the all-red box, as seen in the image above. One thing, as noted by CNET, is that you can trade in your old Nintendo Switch at GameStop towards the new one and get it for a cool $75.
Personally, I’ll be doing this as I’ve been experiencing a bit of Joy-Con drift recently, and this will alleviate that issue and get me a new Switch in the process. Don’t worry, I’ll alert any GameStop employees of my sporadic Joy-Con drift.
The new console is being seen at ThinkGeek, GameStop, and Target in major cities currently, but definitely check your local spot to see if the new ones are available or you.
