When Ninja left Twitch last week for Mixer, it was the talk of gaming Twitter. How much is he getting paid? Will he still play with DrLupo? What will happen to his old channel?

While we don’t really know how much he’s getting out of the deal, we do know what his old channel was being used for over the weekend – advertising porn (and other Twitch channels).

Ninja’s old Twitch channel was promoting other streamers and… porn?

Ninja’s Twitch channel has over 14 million followers and over the weekend, if you went to the channel, you’d see a multi-columned list of other channels to watch. Ninja wasn’t happy about this, to begin with, saying they (Twitch) are only doing that on his channel, but the cherry on top was that the top-recommended channel in that list was streaming porn – something that is obviously against Twitch’s ToS. Here is the screengrab (obviously NSFW).

Twitch CEO Emmett Shear stated that he “wanted to apologize directly to Ninja” and that the offending account had been removed. He continued, saying, “The lewd content that appeared on the Ninja offline channel page grossly violates our terms of service. We’ve permanently suspended the account in question.”

As far as advertising other channels on popular streams, Twitch states that it is a feature they’ve been testing on popular streams when the streamer is offline, but as of the time of this writing, they have reverted Ninja’s stream to a traditional offline account – one that doesn’t advertise porn.

What do you think? Surprised that Twitch doesn’t moderate this more closely? Let us know down below in the comments or carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.
