I’ve been trying to write this news post up for roughly 40-minutes, but my internet keeps cutting out. Why? Well, it’s because Xfinity, my internet service provider, is apparently experiencing major outages.
According to Downdetector, Xfinity has been experiencing outages over the last 24-hours and it’s not just an isolated incident. Outages in regions stretch nationwide, but the bulk of it is centered in San Francisco, Chicago, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. I’m located in the Boston area and it’s hitting me particularly hard.
Checking the company’s status page, I can confirm that an XFINITY internet outage has been reported in my area. To check if you’re affected by this outage, you can check out the service status for your area here.
For now, my internet seems to be working but for some, they’re still experiencing an outage. The company is aware of the issue and says it will be resolved at 10:49 AM ET, reports The Verge. We’ve reached out to Comcast for comment as to what’s happening, we’ll update the post once more information is readily available.
At 11:03 AM ET, Xfinity Support pushed out a tweet on Twitter addressing the issue: “Some customers are experiencing intermittent service interruptions as a result of a network issue. Our teams are actively working to bring impacted customers back online, as we continue to investigate,” the company tweeted early Tuesday. “We apologize to those who have been affected.”
For now, if you’re an Xfinity customer experiencing internet issues, try restarting your modem. Disconnect from WiFi and try reconnecting. That seemed to do the trick for me, hopefully, you’ll have the same luck.
Update 11/9/2021 6:43 PM ET: Xfinity seems to have resolved the issue and everything seems to be back up running. The company posted an update to Twitter saying service is now restored to impacted customers. “Earlier, some customers experienced intermittent service disruptions as a result of a network issue,” the company wrote in a tweet. “We have addressed the issue and service is now restoring for impacted customers, as we continue to investigate the root cause. We apologize to those who were affected.“
