Apple fanboys are eagerly waiting for the new iPad models (iPad Pro and iPad Air) to arrive, after 2023’s iPad drought. However, the rumors about the iPad launch date have been convoluted a bit.
Initially, Apple was rumored to launch them in late March or in early April. After that, the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models were rumored to launch in May and now, the Bloomberg journalist has provided a more accurate timeframe.
According to Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, the launch of the new iPad Pro and iPad Air will probably happen on May 6, which also ties with the retail stores receiving new product marketing materials later that week.
What to expect from the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models

The new iPad Pro 2024 models are expected to sport OLED panels for the first time in iPad’s history. According to Gurman, the new panel caused the delay.
However, it seems like the wait would be worth it as the new OLED iPad Pro panels will be similar to the iPhone’s. Gurman said,
The technology apparently looks amazing on such large displays — taking what iPhone users have experienced since 2017 to a whole new level.
However, it’s not all rainbows and sunshine.
The 2024 iPad Pro models will likely come with a price bump, courtesy of the new OLED panels.
Gurman points to a $799 starting price for the 11-inch Pro iPad model and $1,099 for the 12.9-inch model with only 128GB of internal storage.
The journalist also points to the development of a new base model iPad and a new iPad Mini model. However, the details aren’t as exciting as the Pro and Air iPad models.

In addition, the development is in its early stages. So, we are far away from the official launch.
Overall, Gurman says the launch of the new iPad Pro, and iPad Air with accessories like the new Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 3 is shaping up to be excellent and probably the biggest updates to Apple’s iPad line in the past few years.
