What do you get when you take the designer of Wandersong, the composer from Celeste, the sound designer from Night in the Woods, and some fresh talent who’ve never worked in the gaming industry before? Chicory: A Colorful Tale, a game about a painting dog now on Kickstarter. Oh, also you get funded in less than 24 hours.
The premise is simple and extremely meta: Run around with a magic paintbrush and restore color to a drab world. In an industry dominated by violence, it’s a breath of fresh air to be doing something so wholesome. I’ve seen a growing prevalence in cute, cozy, non-violent games over the last few years and I am absolutely here for it.

Behind the game, the team’s demographics are impressive, too. A whopping 74% of game developers identify male, but Greg is the only male-identifying member of this team of five. Diverse work comes from a set of diverse voices, so I’m interested to see what these folks put together.
