With next-gen consoles slated for a holiday 2020 release, it leaves a lot of gamers in a weird position coming summer and fall of this year. Do you buy games for your current system, even though a new console is coming out in a few months or do you wait for the next batch of console releases and pick it up then when it is released?
If you are an Xbox One gamer patiently waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 to release, you will not have to make that choice. This is because it was announced today by CD PROJEKT RED (through the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account) that players that buy the game for Xbox One will get a free update to the Series X version when it inevitably releases.
Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades. Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available. https://t.co/nfkfFLj85w

This news goes alongside news from Microsoft that Xbox Game Studios games will feature something called Smart Delivery, which basically means that gamers who buy games from the studio will be able to enjoy them on both the Xbox One and next-gen Xbox console.
Now, the next big question is – will Sony follow suit with the PlayStation 5?
What do you think? Glad to see this announcement from both CD PROJEKT RED and Microsoft? Does this make you more likely to go with Xbox for your next-gen console and Cyberpunk 2077? Let us know down below in the comments or carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.
