Xbox games aren’t getting smaller, and with the rise of digital sales, you need somewhere to install your games before you can start 360-noscoping. Let’s face it, the original Xbox One never had enough storage space, with a max of 1TB. That’s where Fantom Drives comes in.

They’ve just released plug-in USB storage for the Xbox One that comes in 2TB, 4TB, 5TB and 2TB SSHD variants in enclosures that look like they were part of the original design.

The drives also add another three USB 3.0 ports to the console, two of which can support additional storage, and the third is for controller connection or charging. All the drives used are 2.5″ form-factor from Seagate, and you can get 1-5TB normal drives or 1 or 2TB FireCuda SSHD drives for an additional speed boost.

While the Xbox One comes in 500 GB or 1 TB storage configurations, the units are not expandable. Furthermore, some of that space is used for system files so users do not have access to the advertised capacity,” said Hamid Khorsandi, CEO of Fantom Drives. “We are providing a highly mobile storage drive for the Xbox One that is similar in design to the gaming system to complement the gamer’s investment. With Fantom Drives Xbox One Drive and Storage Hub, gamers receive the portability, capacity and performance they require at a very affordable price point.

The Fantom Drives are plug-and-play and are powered off the USB port so there’s no need for external power supplies.

Do you need additional storage for your Xbox One? Would you use Fantom Drives? Let us know in the comments.
