Fortnite takes a page from Apex Legends, adds a respawn feature
How will players take to the change?
Both Fortnite and Apex Legends have been successful in the battle royale space, with Apex Legends bringing some truly interesting aspects to the now tried-and-true formula. Epic Games has definitely taken notice, first implementing its own Apex-like ping system and, now, the ability to bring your teammates back from the grave.
Included in the Fortnite v8.30 update, the feature works similarly to Apex Legends’ respawn feature. When in duos or squads, your body will drop a Reboot Card that stays active for 90 seconds. If a teammate is able to grab it within the allotted timeframe, you’ll have a second chance at your time on the battlefield.
Once your card has been obtained, your teammates will need to find one of the new Reboot Vans scattered throughout the map at any major point-of-interest. You will respawn back with 100 health, a basic pistol, a little bit of ammo, and 100 wood.
The new Buccaneer’s Bounty Event
In addition to the above change and other various bug fixes, v8.30 also brings with it a new, limited-time mode. This mode will see different limited-time modes rotating in every day from April 10 – 15, with new, free challenges to earn in-game rewards.
This event will also see an increase in the spawn rates of treasure maps, with floor loot chances increasing from .25% to .5% and chest availability from 1.55% to 3.05%.
