It’s the end of February, which means it’s time for you to remember that there are only 28 days this month. It’s also time for next month’s crop of Xbox Games With Gold to be announced, with next month’s selection actually feeling weaker than last month’s anemic offerings. Seriously, even if free is free I’m disappointed.
Remember, to download these games, you must have an Xbox Live Gold account and to access them in the future you must still have an active account.
Free Games with Gold for March 2019
The only real standout here is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which is Platinum Games’ take on the Metal Gear franchise. That means no sneaking, no boxes to hide in from stupid security guards, no Otacon on the radio, and no Para-Medic to discuss the finer points of tasting everything in sight.
Still, it’s a great example of Platinum Games’ skill at frenetic action-brawlers, and has mechas and swords – what more do you need?
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is available all month, and Finn and Jake now are on the high seas to save the Land of Ooo once again. If you’re an Adventure Time fan (and who isn’t?), the ten-hour long RPG should make you feel right at home.
The rest of next month’s games include Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 and Star Wars Republic Commando, which was an OG Xbox title. Might be worth revisiting for nostalgia’s sake, but it hasn’t aged gracefully.
- Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion ($39.99 ERP): Available March 1 to 31 on Xbox One
- Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 ($19.99 ERP): Available March 16 to April 15 on Xbox One
- Star Wars Republic Commando ($9.99 ERP): Available March 1 to 15 on Xbox One and Xbox 360
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance ($19.99 ERP): Available March 16 to 31 on Xbox One and Xbox 360
