Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 have not received a security upgrade or Google Play System updates since their launch in July 2024.

Despite earlier Samsung phones receiving these upgrades, they have not been released to either of the latest foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are now running the most recent Google Play system update and the One UI 6.1.1 update, which contains critical security fixes.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 still use the April 2024 patch

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are still stuck on the Google Play System upgrade released in April 2024. However, as first reported by SamMobile, the latest patch is still not available for download on these two phones.

Google Play system updates provide important core aspects for the Android operating system and feature upgrades for the Play Store and Google Play Services.

You can manually upgrade Google Play’s September update by launching Settings > About phone > Software information > Google Play System update.

The Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 received the newest One UI update, including the Z Fold 6 software package. Those older phones now run newer software than Samsung’s latest and finest foldable offerings.

It’s unclear why Samsung hasn’t pushed the latest update for its foldable phones. These foldables may require additional testing and optimization, but that still does not explain why older foldables receive the most recent updates.

Samsung may be tuning the software experience on these two phones for its own Galaxy AI before completely integrating the most recent Google Play system update.

While they may not have received the latest update, Samsung has promised software support for seven years with these phones. It may be delayed, but it’s only a matter of time before the patch hits these foldables.
