Gearbox announced a Penn & Teller VR game at PAX East and it couldn’t be any more magical
Fingers crossed that it’s better than Desert Bus VR.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a sucker for magic, especially from the hands of Penn & Teller. What can I say – I’m at 12-year old at heart. Whether it’s watching them on TV or that one time I saw them in Las Vegas, I honestly can’t get enough of these guys. They’re smart, funny, and you know, really good at what they do: magic.
Now, they’re bringing their magic to a new medium – video games. Announced at PAX East, Gearbox is releasing a game featuring the iconic duo for the Oculus, HTC Vive, and PSVR headsets this summer. It’s called Penn and Teller VR: Frankly Unfair, Unkind, Unnecessary & Underhanded. Yea, it’s a little wordy but I honestly wouldn’t expect anything less from these guys.
From what I can tell, not much is known about the game, other than the title and release date. I’m guessing it’s going to be some form of party game with various minigames. But other than that, I’m all out of guesses. The one thing I do know for sure is that Gearbox is developing the game in-house.
This isn’t the duo’s first foray into video games.
Back in 2017, the guys released Desert Bus VR, which is basically a mini-game they back in 1998, transformed into the world of virtual reality. It’s nothing special. Actually, rumblings on the street say it’s one of the worst games ever created. Let’s just hope that Penn and Teller VR: Frankly Unfair, Unkind, Unnecessary & Underhanded offers a different result.
Either way, we’ll find out more when the game is released later in June. Check back here for updates before then.
