If you enjoy(ed) Pokémon Go, but are looking for a new adventure to play on your phone, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is set to hit a phone near you this weekend.
After months of teases and testing, Niantic announced the game’s worldwide launch is set for June 21.
Harry Potter lives on in your phone
Like Pokémon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will focus around the collection aspect, but does seem to add a bit more story to the whole experience – basically, some stuff happens, “foundables” get released around the world, and it’s your job to find these foundables (wow, I hate that combination of words) to make sure dumb ole Muggles don’t learn the magical world’s secrets.

There are spells and Dementors and fortresses which will act like Pokémon Go’s gyms. Unlike Pokémon Go, there are no teams in the game, but you will be able to select between three different professions – lone wolf, tank/support, or professor. Each will feature its own benefits and skill tree. You can change between professions when you want, which is nice.
Overall, Wizards Unite looks interesting. Will it see the same success Pokémon Go saw opening week? Most likely not, but hopefully it draws in a large audience, because I’m pretty sure the world was at its best when Pokémon Go first released.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be available for Android and iOS on June 21.
