Fortnite is teaming up with John Wick this weekend to celebrate the release of John Wick 3: Parabellum. The weekend’s festivities include a special game mode called Wick’s Bounty, skins, emotes, locations and more.
The event kicked off with the debut of a new skin modeled off of Keanu Reeve’s portrayal of John Wick’s character. The skin, which costs 2000 Vbucks (approximately $20) includes both the clean-cut version of John Wick and the battle-damaged, tousled look.
The skin is fairly unique because it doesn’t have the odd body dimensions the other characters have. His battle-damaged version’s hair and tie also have physics too, which is unique to Wick as well too.
There’s a rumor that there will also be a character modeled after Halle Berry’s character. There’s been some info datamined on it, but as of this article, nothing has shown up yet. The skin may be debuting today or Saturday.
The shop also has two special emotes that emulate iconic moments from the movies. I don’t know the significance of these since I actually haven’t gotten around to watching any of the John Wick movies. I do know that the “bulletproof” emote has you knocking embedded bullets out of your clothes and has special effects when used on the battle-damaged Wick.
John Wick’s Bounty has all the characters dressing up in their best formal attire to hunt down and take out other teams of players.
In the game mode, your squad has to earn tokens while taking contracts on the top teams. When a team ends up in the top 3, all other players are given their location, and it’s up to them to hold their own with the bounty on their heads. Players can die three times before being out for the remainder of the game. Since you start with weapons at the get-go, the best strategy is to land on the outskirts of the map and loot up before cashing in some bounties.
The new locations on the map are John Wick’s house, complete with a weapon cache in the floor and also The Continental Hotel. In Wick’s Bounty, players in The Continental are not allowed to hold weapons or swing their pickaxes inside. It’s pretty cool and allows the players with the highest bounties to find a moment of reprieve if they are nearby.
John Wick isn’t alien to Fortnite. Back in Season 3, the tier 100 skin was called The Reaper and was very clearly modeled after the John Wick character. Back then, he also had a unique glider that referenced Wick’s car and a pickaxe that had a (fookin) pencil on it. I think they also introduced the silenced pistol for when The Reaper debuted, but I’m probably wrong.
Wick’s Bounty will be around through the next three days and is accompanied by special challenges that offer some neat cosmetic items for those players that complete tasks. I don’t foresee the skins or event returning after this weekend, so if you play Fortnite, you may want to suit up and jump off that Battle Bus to collect some bounties.
Do you plan on playing the Wick’s Bounty game mode or picking up the John Wick cosmetics? Is Josh a horrible person for not seeing any of the John Wick movies? Let us know down below in the comments or carry the discussion over to our Twitter or Facebook.
