You may soon be able to rent an Xbox One directly from Microsoft

It could actually come out cheaper to do it this way if rumors are correct.

Accord to a report from Windows Central, Microsoft is currently working on a new subscription service that includes Xbox Live and Game Pass. Oh, and an actual Xbox One console.

While nothing is set in stone, if reports are correct, this could prove to be a great deal for those on-the-fence and for those who can’t justify spending the full amount for the included services all at once. It is also being reported that, after two years, you own the console.

While no firm pricing is provided, rumors show that one tier will run $22 per month. This includes the Game Pass and Xbox Live and an Xbox One S. If you are looking for a 4k gaming experience, there could also be a higher priced plan, $35/month, that includes the 4k-capable Xbox One X.

For a refresher, Xbox Live gives gamers the change to play online and also offers so free games each month. Game Pass, which costs around $10 a month, gives gamers access to a large library of games they can download and play.

No word yet on when this could launch, but assumptions are sooner, rather than later. It is also expected to be a US-only offer, which would explain why it is not being announced at Gamescom 2018 in Germany.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment and will update this post if a response is received.

What do you think, would you spend $20-40 a month to rent a console and associated services? Let us know below.
