Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim may not launch at next Unpacked event

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series will debut at the Unpacked event on January 22, 2025. This launch will spotlight three flagship models: the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. 

However, rumors suggest that a fourth device, the Galaxy S25 Slim, may also be in the pipeline.

The Slim variant, identified by the model number SM-S937, has been subject to speculation over its release timeline, with no concrete confirmation until now.

However, a new report suggests the wait for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is longer than anticipated, as it could launch alongside the next-gen foldable rather than the rest of the S25 family.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim could launch in mid-2025 

Recent findings in the One UI 7 beta reveal listings for the primary Galaxy S25 models (SM-S931, SM-S936, and SM-S938) but do not mention the Galaxy S25 Slim.

This omission implies that the Slim variant will not launch alongside its S25 counterparts.

Instead, reports suggest it might be unveiled later in 2025, potentially during Samsung’s mid-year event for foldable devices—the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. 

This strategy would allow Samsung to position the ultra-slim smartphone as a complementary highlight to its foldable lineup.

If this timeline holds, the Galaxy S25 Slim’s launch could extend past the initially speculated Q2 2025 release window. 

Nevertheless, a teaser for the Slim model might still be shown during the January Unpacked event. A full-scale launch will follow later in the year alongside Samsung’s foldable.

Additionally, Samsung is rumored to be developing a budget-friendly version of its foldable series, the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

Like the Galaxy S25 Slim, the Z Flip FE was absent from the latest One UI 7 beta, suggesting it could also remain further down the pipeline.

The Galaxy S25 Slim and Z Flip FE are absent from Samsung’s upcoming firmware, suggesting both devices will see a staggered release.
