Darksiders is getting its own Diablo-style action-RPG
Always down for a new loot grinding game.
The hit series Darksiders is taking a pretty drastic turn from its third-person action roots with a new Diablo-style game called Darksiders Genesis that is scheduled to release *gestures vaguely* at some point.
Why THQ Nordic decided to veer from its traditional style and game type is unknown, but with Diablo fans still waiting (somewhat) patiently for news regarding a Diablo game that isn’t free-to-play on mobile, maybe the company just realized there was a market for the action-RPG styling and grinding many have come to love in games like Diablo and Path of Exile.

There’s really not too much shown in the trailer, but do get introduced to a new Horseman of the Apocalypse, called Strife. According to THQ (via IGN), Strife “is called upon to save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer” and the new title will include “intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell.”
Honestly, I missed most of the Darksiders hype during its come up, but as a huge Diablo fan, I’m always down for some more top-down ARPG goodness.
Darksiders Genesis is scheduled to release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia. More will be revealed at E3 next week, as well, so hopefully, we’ll get a release date.
