Nintendo’s latest console, the Nintendo Switch, has literally flown off of shelves year-round.
With those kinds of sales figures, do retailers actually need to discount the console on the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday?
Black Friday usually brings the best console deals of the year
So, with the rest of the console makers heavily discounting their wares on Black Friday, what about Nintendo? Are we likely to see the Nintendo Switch console sold at less than its usual $299.99 price?
- Short answer: Not likely
Unlike the other consoles from Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo’s Switch hasn’t had a hardware discount since its release. For a significant time, you couldn’t even get the MSRP price, with retailers inflating the selling price whenever they had stock. Now we can get the $299.99 MSRP, but that’s the lowest that the console itself has gone.

That said, keep an eye out for bundle deals and other sweeteners that would effectively bring the Switch’s price below that MSRP. Last year, GameStop was giving away $50 GameStop gift cards with any console purchase, Kohl’s usually offers $15 in Kohl’s cash for every $50 you spend, and there’s always bundles with a “free” game, Joy-con or other accessories.
