OnePlus 12 specs leak says the phone will get up to 24GB of RAM

OnePlus is not only gearing up for its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, but the company is also working on the successor to the OnePlus 11, the OnePlus 12. 

The expectations regarding the OnePlus 12 are already sky-high, and the previous leaks also indicate that OnePlus is developing a flagship smartphone to challenge the likes of Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy. 

However, the latest leak indicates that OnePlus’s next mainstream smartphone will at least exceed Samsung and Google flagships in one area: RAM. The leaks revealed a few OnePlus 12 specs, including 24GB RAM.  

A whole lotta RAM for the OnePlus 12!

Prominent leaker Digital Chat Station has leaked the OnePlus 12 specs sheet on Weibo, which aligns with some past speculations. 

According to the leak, the next OnePlus flagship is going to feature a curved display with a 2K resolution. 

The leaker has also mentioned “high-frequency dimming,” he could be referring to Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) dimming at an unspecified “high frequency.” It aims to provide a flicker-free viewing experience in low brightness. 

In terms of the rest of the specs, the device will be powered by the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with 16 or 24GB RAM. 

OnePlus 11 already features 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, so 24GB RAM on the OnePlus’s next smartphone is not far-fetched. The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro which launched recently in China, also features 24GB RAM. 

That said, 24GB RAM is an overkill for most users. However, the leak doesn’t have any mention of 8GB or 12GB variants, which makes us think that the company could skip those variants altogether. We are still a bit skeptical, though. 

More OnePlus 12 specs 

The leak also reiterates the OnePlus 12 camera specs. We can expect the device to feature a 50MP Sony IMX9 series primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 64MP periscope camera with 3x zoom.

The leak also mentions “telephoto;” but we are not too sure about it. Even the leaked renders showcased a periscope zoom lens. 

OnePlus 12 is also expected to feature a big 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. The company is rumored to add a vapor chamber for better heat dissipation, and the fingerprint sensor could remain optical. 

OnePlus 12 is expected to make its global debut in early 2024.
