The OnePlus Open is poised to be the moniker of OnePlus’s debut foldable smartphone, as disclosed by tipster Max Jambor in a Twitter thread.
In recent news, another leak hints that the OnePlus Open might feature an enhanced version of OxygenOS straight out of the box.
A modified version of OxygenOS for the OnePlus Open
The most recent leak is courtesy of the credible tipster, SnoopyTech.
His Twitter feed indicates that this software will bear the name “OxygenOS Fold,” which is ironic given our earlier assumption that OnePlus avoided ‘fold’ and ‘flip’ in their naming conventions.
That being said, it seems likely that the OnePlus Open will feature a version of OxygenOS specifically customized for its foldable design.
Max Jambor previously leaked information about the device and verified SnoopyTech’s claim as “accurate.”
However, it is no surprise that OnePlus is tailoring OxygenOS for the OnePlus Open. After all, this operating system has been a significant selling point for OnePlus over the years.
It’s also interesting to note that OPPO (which shares a parent company with OnePlus) recently rolled out its Find N2 series. This line runs on a modified version of Color OS, specifically designed for new form factors.
This adapted version of Color OS enables users to launch three applications at once using a floating window, among other innovative features.
Color OS and Oxygen OS: 🤝
Given that Color OS and Oxygen OS are now interconnected and developed by the same entity, you can anticipate a similar software experience on your forthcoming OnePlus Open, as seen on OPPO Find N2.
Lastly, set to launch in August, the OnePlus Open might arrive with Android 14 pre-installed.
The leaked specs sheet indicates that they’re crafting a high-end smartphone, which will likely come with an equally premium price tag. So get ready.
