Samsung is working on a Galaxy Watch FE, says report

Samsung has been rumored to be working on the Galaxy Watch 7 series and according to a new report, the Korean company plans to add a Galaxy Watch FE to its smartphone lineup.

The report comes from Android Headlines. The folks from the outlet spotted model numbers in an IMEI database. They concluded that Samsung plans to release a Galaxy Watch FE globally – including in the United States and South Korea. 

Unfortunately, not much is known about the Galaxy Watch FE, at the moment, besides its SM-R866 model number.

However, it is speculated that this is the Galaxy Watch 4 refresh revealed in a leak a few months ago.

If the speculation is accurate, expect a similar hardware design centered around the Exynos W920 chipset. Still, this is just a speculation and be sure to take it with a grain of salt. 

The Galaxy Watch FE to shake up Samsung’s smartwatch lineup 

The most interesting revelation with the Galaxy Watch FE is what it speaks for Samsung’s Galaxy Watch lineup. 

Samsung’s 2024 smartwatch lineup is expected to feature three models of the Galaxy Watch 7. 

There will be a standard variant with a sporty design, and a Classic model, and the “Pro” model is making a comeback with a whopping large battery. 

Hence, the Galaxy Watch FE will be a fourth model if it joins the lineup, making Samsung’s smartwatch lineup mirroring Apple’s pretty closely. 

Apple currently sells two sizes of the Apple Watch Series 9, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the affordable Apple Watch SE.

The Galaxy Watch FE will undoubtedly compete with the Apple Watch SE, which starts at $250. 

So, if the Galaxy Watch FE is indeed real, expect a price tag of $199. However, this is all just speculation. 

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 7 series in early July alongside its foldable smartphones and the Watch FE could arrive at the same time or later – we are unsure.
