After a significant wait and multiple delays, Samsung has officially announced the One UI 7 beta program for its Galaxy smartphones.

It is one of the biggest One UI updates in the company’s history. The Android 15-based One UI 7 has changed a lot, including new AI features, a brand-new look, an improved camera experience, and more.

The One UI 7 beta program is available only in select regions, including India, Korea, Germany, Poland, the UK, and the US.

However, Samsung will expand its availability in the coming weeks in the other regions of Europe and the rest of the world.

Also, the One UI 7 is rolling out to Galaxy S24 series devices only; interested users can join the program through the Samsung Members app.

The company will likely roll out the beta program to more eligible Galaxy devices.

One of the biggest changes to the One UI 7 is its design overhaul. It’s simple yet expressive.

The home screen design is simple, widgets have been redesigned, and a new lock screen has been added. In addition, Samsung claims that reduced visual clutter results in a more streamlined experience.

Advanced AI writing assist tools are available with the One UI 7 beta, and they’re accessible inside all the applications where you can select texts.

After selecting the desired texts, users can choose to summarize the content, check grammar and spelling, and format the entire text into bullet points.

One UI 7 also features call transcripts in 20 languages. If call recording is enabled on the device, the recorded calls will be transcribed automatically.

One of the biggest highlights of One UI 7 is the Now Bar. It shows activities across various features, such as Music, a Stopwatch, Recording, etc.

The Now Bar is also available on the lock screen, giving users access to important notifications. However, we can’t ignore that this new One UI 7 feature sounds much like the iOS’s Live Activities and Dynamic Island features.

The camera UX has been redesigned. It now allows users to access advanced settings, giving them a better preview of the image or video to be captured.

Samsung has also simplified the Pro and Pro video mode layouts. In the Pro video mode, a new zoom control allows users to control the zoom speed, and the transition is smoother.

Samsung also announced new security and privacy features for the One UI 7 in a separate press release

A new Know Matrix dashboard has been added for transparent security across all the connected devices.

Enhanced Data Protection is a new recovery method that allows users to transfer recovered data to a new device by verifying the lock screen of the previous device.

Users can now create a Passkey to access their Samsung Account.

2G service can be blocked to prevent unintended automatic reconnection to specific Wi-Fi networks. Users can also block unauthorized USB port access.

A new Safe Install system warns users if they download apps from unauthorized sources.

If your device is in an unfamiliar location, you will need biometric authentication to make critical security settings.

Samsung has also added a one-hour security delay to prevent unauthorized users from changing the device.

So, with its AI features, better UX, and security, One UI 7 promises to deliver a wonderful overall experience — far better than the previous One UI version.

Samsung hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the stable release, but an official launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series in January is expected.
