At today’s “It’s Glowtime” event, Apple announced multiple AirPods. While the company refreshed the base AirPods line with two new AirPods 4, the fate of Apple’s over-ear AirPods Max was different.
While we expected the announcement of the first-generation AirPods Max’s successor, the company simply threw in some new colors to the existing AirPods Max and refreshed it with the USB-C port.
New AirPods Max colors
Apple announced its premium over-ear AirPods Max back in 2020. While its successor was widely expected to appear at today’s event, Apple simply added some new colors and made minor changes to the original AirPods Max.
- Starlight
- Midnight
- Purple
- Orange
- Blue
Let’s not forget that Apple has also replaced the Lightning port with the USB-C on the AirPods Max, finally ending the Lightning era for Apple’s audio accessories. Now, USB-C is Apple’s new charging standard.
In addition, Apple mentioned that the AirPods Max would support Personalized Spatial Audio.
The price of the AirPods Max remains the same at $549. Pre-orders start today, while shipping is set for September 20.
