Apple is rumored to revamp its entire iPad lineup this year after not releasing a single iPad in 2023. The new iPad Pro models are the starting lineup, and it is rumored that they will get new OLED panels alongside the new M3 chip.

On the other hand, we have the iPad Air 6, which is reportedly set to launch alongside the “Pro” iPad models. Apple was rumored to introduce a new 12.9-inch iPad Air this year, which was excellent news. However, another leak has now revealed a new meaningful upgrade for the 12.9-inch iPad Air.

The display analyst Ross Young has revealed through his subscriber-only post on X/Twitter that the new larger iPad Air 6 will get a Mini-LED display.

The vanilla iPad Air 6 will stick to the same LED panels

While it is a last-minute leak, as Apple is said to launch its new iPad Air 6 and Pro models in May, it is a meaningful upgrade, at least for the larger iPad Air 6.

Young further clarifies that Apple will use leftover Mini-LED panels from the previous iPad Pro models, as the new iPad Pro models are going OLED and don’t need them anymore.

However, the report also confirms that the vanilla iPad Air 6 won’t be getting the same Mini-LED treatment, which was unlikely anyway.

Apple is simply differentiating iPads with different displays, which is an excellent idea.

Either way, equipping the new 12.9-inch iPad Air 6 with the Mini-LED panel is an excellent idea and may help sway customers to go for the larger models, as it will be the newest addition to Apple’s iPad family.

There isn’t any official confirmation regarding the launch, but all things point to an early May launch as we eagerly await the new iPads and can’t hold our excitement.
