In the next couple of months, a slew of new games is being released. These are the ones you should be keeping your eye on.

Winter is coming, but this doesn’t stop gamers from playing their favorite video games. The good news is that lots of new games will be released starting this month until the end of the holiday season. Developers have come up with sequels, reboots, and indie games that will make your holiday worth celebrating.

Here is the list of 28 new games to get this holiday season, together with their release dates and gaming platforms.

Cuphead

The game that everyone is waiting for, Cuphead, will be released this year. It is a run-and-gun video game that is portrayed by 1930s cartoons. The mystery is whether this type of setting can ease the difficulty especially with tons of bosses that await brave gamers.


Destiny 2

Release date: September 6, 2017 (PS4 and Xbox One), October 24, 2017 (PC)

Platforms:

The sequel for Destiny will be released, and it will come with a slew of new features. Destiny 2 is the product of endless updates and development of the first installment. The population of the game is expected to rise because the Destiny 2 now supports the PC platform. The matchmaking will be more optimal and will give players advantages when doing raids or strikes.

After the success of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Ubisoft is releasing Origins as an addition to the Assassin’s Creed series. New features are implemented in the game that will give players the satisfaction of evolved game mechanics. These features include controlling arrows in mid-flight, tame different predators, naval combat, and a new pet eagle that will give you “eagle vision.” Chronologically, Origins comes first in the Assassin’s Creed series. The protagonist will be an ancestor of the Brotherhood.

These terrifying creatures will make your heart palpitate as you progress through the game. What makes it spookier is that the game will be released on a Friday the 13th.

Songbringer will take you on a nostalgic trip with its pixel art adventure game. It has 300 million sci-fi worlds to visit and explore. The story starts when the protagonist accidentally awakens all the demons when he pulled out the nanosword. Similar to Legend of Zelda, you will be fighting eccentric creatures, discover unlit dungeons, and open trap doors that lead you to either a pile of gold or inevitable death.


Sonic Forces

Sega is back with its second Sonic game this year. Sonic Forces offers the same classic and modern Sonic mode. A new feature in the game is the creation of a third playable character where the players can choose its unique ability and gadget. It will have the same gameplay of running at high speed, collecting bonuses, and defeating robots.


Star Fox 2

Twelve years before, Nintendo canceled the release of the Star Fox sequel. Now they are ready to release Star Fox 2 on the SNES Classic Edition. It’s their way to bring back the forgotten console and honor players who still have their consoles in one piece. The game will be set in the Lylat system. Players can move around freely and choose the spot to fight. It is a semi-real-time game where players need to decide carefully which side of Corneria to defend.


Star Wars Battlefront II

Imagine fusing with Bullet Bill to travel long distances, or a tank to fire at enemies. Players can also join in a coop mode where one takes control of Mario’s hat. Odyssey will definitely be one of the gems in the Super Mario Series and bring new heights to Nintendo’s 3D games.


Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

MachineGames’ sequel for Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, is set in a different timeline where the Axis is trying to win World War II by using stolen prehistoric technology. It will have the same gameplay as with the previous games; however, players can now play with dual-wield weapons. The protagonist, William J. Blazkowicz, will try to shove the Nazis and start the second American Revolution.


Xenoblade Chronicles 2

The sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles, this will be an open-world JRPG that features new worlds to travel and new characters to play. The storyline is about finding Elysium, the ultimate paradise for humans. Players can explore tons of colossal beasts that carry different civilizations on their backs. Although there are a lot of civilizations to explore, the aesthetic scenery will be worth the shot.


Yomawari: Midnight Shadows

Last year Yomawari: Night Alone startled the whole horror game community. It started when a little girl tried looking for her pet dog, and as the darkness enveloped, scary creatures appeared. Now Nippon Ichi Software is back with a sequel. Yomawari: Midnight Shadows will be introducing two new characters, Yui and Haru. They will be separated by an unknown creature, and they must reconnect with one another before terrifying creatures find them. Don’t forget to turn the volume up when playing the game to up the spooky vibe.
